Worm bins are easy. They don't smell, can recycle food, and give great fertilizer for your plants. We bought our bin from Can-O-Worms, a mail order garden catalog. Other worm bins can be purchased or you can make your own with rubbermaids.

Turn your kitchen scraps and other organic waste into an excellent natural fertilizer, keep valuable resources out of the landfill!

WORM COMPOSTING

	A. We use four inches of damp straw mixed with a scoop of potting soil as bedding material and place the mixture in the working/bottom tray
	B. 2,000 Red worms purchased through the mail are placed on top of the bedding. We let the worms settle into the bedding by not covering them until there are no visible worms left on the surface. Note: To have a successful composting system you have to start with at least 1,000 worms.
	C. The second working tray is placed on top of the first tray bedding, allowing the worms to climb into the second tray. A couple of handfuls of food waste from the kitchen is placed in the second try and covered with a damp newspaper.
	D. The final third tray and top are put in place. The Can-O-Worms is placed in the shade next to the kitchen for easy access.
