:: WHAT DOES ZERO WASTE MEAN?::

It's a whole systems approach to waste reduction:

Source reduction
Reduce consumption
Minimize waste
Maximize recycling

Zero Waste is a philosophy and a design principle for the 21st Century. It includes 'recycling' but goes beyond recycling by taking a 'whole system' approach to the vast flow of resources and waste through human society.

Zero Waste maximizes recycling, minimizes waste, reduces consumption and ensures that products are made to be reused, repaired or recycled back into nature or the marketplace.

WHAT IS A ZERO WASTE EVENT?

It is simply recycling, which includes composting all of the materials generated from the event. By doing this, we can significantly reduce the amount of solid waste that needs to be disposed of in a landfill.

:: SIMPLE SOLUTIONS ::

Reduce: 1) always use your own plates, utensils, cloth napkins and refillable containers or 2) use products that are 100% biodegradable and compostable.

Compost: All food scraps and biodegradable containers can be thrown into a composter and the end product can be used in your garden.

Recycle: All paper, plastic and other recyclable materials.
